Some of what we are up against.
A few days ago an old religious friend of mine posted to facebook the Lisa Simpson meme about batteries not producing electricity but just storing them. The actual electricity is produced by fossil fuels. No mention of renewables (20% of the US total production).
There fore electric vehicles aren't zero emission vehicles. A couple of her friends had the nailed it picture as a response
Okay.
I answered that their emissions are a lot lower than gas powered vehicles, I didn't get into the health issues, and as we add more renewables to the mix their emissions become lower with time. I then posted a link to a US site showing the energy mix in the US currently.
Here is the reply:
"I wonder why God let us discover coal and natural gas to use for heat and run our automobiles? Maybe HE wanted to save HIS trees? Is HE afraid of us ruining HIS creation with our fuel demands? This is just things I think about. Also, what happens if we don't use the gases that are entrapped in the earth? Will they suddenly just erupt and burn up the planet? There is an ancient prophecy that the earth will burn up...just thinking"
We discovered coal and oil to fuel our cars by god's grace. Never mind that oil was found before cars. This was the plan to save trees. And we are saving the earth from blowing up by using the trapped gas....
I am not responding. I'm not asking then why did HE let scientists find out about global warming. Why let us find out about renewables? There are a host of questions. But in her mind and a lot of her friends everything is His plan and it wouldn't destroy the earth.....
I really don't think we can reach some of them.

Just tell her that fossil fuels are really just batteries storing energy from the sun.
If she really wants to look at it as a gift, then the sun is the real prize. All energy besides nuclear and geothermal is ultimately solar power.
But then again it might just start an argument about how old the earth is.

An example: If Jesus met trDUMP, his first inclination, in a state of utter disgust, would be to spit in his face, then just walk away shaking his head in the negative.
Yet under the banner of Christianity trDUMP and his Fascist Christian cohorts held numerous touchy-feely prayer sessions at the White House to exalt his administration inspired by the teachings of Jesus Christ.
