I think they're halfway to the 34 states needed for the convention already, but the states that are currently asking for one are absolutely looking to change things that we wouldn't want changed.

(115,683 posts)Whatever is left of the Bill of Rights will be gone if that happens. The right-wingers have wanted a constitutional convention for years for all the wrong reasons.
At the moment it's a "bite your tongue" kind of issue.

(16,370 posts)Broadly speaking not directly about CCs but people had better be glad women and minorities were given the right to vote long ago because these are things that could not be done today given the climate. The GOP would oppose both simply because Dems would be for it, and it would never get done.

(5,372 posts)A Constitutional Convention would allow the republicans to introduce any issues they choose as well as those we want, with the states being 18 blue and 32 red we can't take that chance.

Thats how we would poison pill any changes in a convention.
