When a state requires a girl/woman to carry a baby to term when she has been raped or in the case of

incest, the state should take financial responsibility to completely support that girl for the next 9 months. If she decides to keep the baby after birth, then the state should give her housing, food, clothing, health support, job support, child care support for the next 18 years.

She also will need psychological counseling for the trauma.

But I will hold my breath for that legislation to come down the pike.

I would possibly consider suicide before being forced to continue a pregnancy due to rape or incest.

Without bodily autonomy, women are slaves.

I am beyond enraged.

Women will not go back.

I also had an abortion when I was in college.

I have never regretted either decision.

roommate and her bf got pregnant but without the means to get to NY for an abortion when it became legal in 1970. They were desperate so I loaned them the $$ to travel there from my meager student funds. They later married, had 4 children when the time was right, and were so grateful not to have opted for a sketchy hotel room illegal something. Another friend of mine had to do that, hemorrhaged, nearly died.

Surreal we are back in that place.

You are a good person. We women will have to continue to help each other like we always have.

I was fortunate to be able to get a safe and legal abortion in the early 1980s in a women’s clinic in my state.

I was also able to get birth control and to decide when I wanted a child, which turned out to be much later in life.

When they're suddenly flooded with unwanted children from pregnancies... maybe they'll change their tune. Maybe.
