Abortion is not a womans issue. An unwanted pregnancy affects a woman and her partner most directly. Women over about age 50 are not going to get pregnant. So, young men, you are far more likely to have your life turned upside down by an unwanted pregnancy than are middle aged and older women.
While we all hope that voters think about whats best for everyone rather than only whats in their back yards, so to speak, we all know many (most?) put their own interests first or they are too uninvolved to care.
So, younger non- voters, dont expect women in general to be more motivated to be concerned about your rights than you are. Get out and vote for pro-choice Democrats.

(36,424 posts)For guys who think abortion is a woman's issue,
child support starts at about 20% of your income.
I don't know how accurate that 20% figure is, but the sentiment certainly gets ones attention.

after banning birth control, of course, is to change the law so only women who had their child within marriage will be entitled to child support. The rest of them will just have to deal with their bastard children on their own.
Because the whole point of all of this isnt to protect life, but to make young women terrified enough of the consequences of getting pregnant with an illegitimate child that theyll keep their legs crossed until marriage.

(51,020 posts)It's to punish women. Full stop.
It's got nothing to do with babies or marriage. It's about control.

(4,616 posts)to call out young voters? Roe has been in place for 49 years, It was up to the older women to make sure it was protected to hand off to the younger voters. Anyone who could vote when Roe was decided in 1973 is now 67. Today is a result of 40+ years of complacency and ignoring all the warnings. Where I can't say "young" voters are 100% blameless, I also can't justify giving the "older" voters a pass.

The probability of people exercising their right to vote increases as they get older. Baby boomers are the ones who marched for civil rights, marched to end the Vietnam war and marched for abortion rights. I can't speak for all of them, but the baby boomers I know are NOT complacent about the rights that they fought so hard to get in the first place. Young people could be/should be a force to be reckoned with, if they would just GOTV.

(2,113 posts)All the more reason we NEED younger voters to show up. Everyone may not get their sparkle pony but sitting on the sidelines isn't an option anymore. This is our country's "come to jesus" moment. It's all hands on deck.

perhaps it is a strategy of making civil rights, the environment, etc., so horrible that as we hurtle toward the apocalypse, conditions become ripe for revolution, which will lead to a progressive utopia.
Sounds silly, but you hear this message being pushed by folks like Susan Sarandon who are then amplified by right wing propaganda outfits.

bear the serious risks of pregnancy.
