I don't know how it will happen, but I predict this will come back to bite them in the ass big time. between the Jan 6 hearings and the reaction to this abomination....the shit will hit the fan, and they will pay.

(34,383 posts)dubious that anything will change except for the worse. I'm feeling mighty cynical today so I think I just need to touch grass for a while then go down to the Michigan State Capitol at 5:00 today so I need to get moving, lol, even though the Capitol is less than a mile away from me.

(10,749 posts)As I mentioned in another post, this will have consequences.
Women will die.
Families will be torn apart.
Jews and Muslims and others will file lawsuits because this violates their freedom of religion. To say nothing of lawsuits regarding the prevention of sound medical care.
Evangelical Christian women will need women's health care also, and they will suffer when it isn't available. Those who have miscarriages or who are suspected of having any abortion will be be accused. After all, we're now seeing the extreme RW begin attacking the not so extreme RW. They will do the same with white christian women who are suspected of having an abortion.
Will we return to the coat hanger days? It's possible, though mifepristone might help avoid that situation.
In addition to the moves by large companies to help their female employees, I think we'll see (or not see?) the rise of an underground railroad, and a ton of lawsuits on all sides as a result.
It'll be interesting to see how state elections shift as a result of this. Maybe it's too soon.

The right to access whatever we want on the internet, including DU, is also dependent on what is aka The Right to Be Left Alone by Government.

So yes they certainly could curtail and control internet access like Russia and China do.

(58,785 posts)champions would have to smash the states rights to do it, they're getting right to it. They've managed to mostly unite Republicans in every state at every level and in every institution, including all three branches of government, as agents of the national Republican Party, currently still using/being used by tRump.
Gotta admit, horrifyingly good start for these incompetent extremists.
I'm also hoping this will finally get more of the complacent apathethic at least blinking and eventually off their fingers.

And then we also have the intelligent but diabolical GOP think tanks.
Behind all the GOP buffoons are some real smarts and talent.

They must be stopped. We cannot allow America to be turned into a theocracy. There will be a strong backlash against the religious right.

(54,378 posts)It was widely speculated that he had gone too far then. Only after Germany and much of Europe lay in ruins, and dozens of millions of people met violent deaths were the speculators proven wrong.
This is not a step too far. It is the first step toward more cruel restrictions and intrusions into privacy.
If it is of any solace, Im sure the Kristallnacht would have been of some serious concern to Susan Collins.
