Well, if you look at the statement by most mainstream Democrats or liberals, you get a clear answer: Republicans.
If you look at the statement by most of the DSA/Justice Dem types, you get a different answer: Democrats.
I know which of those represents my viewpoints more accurately.

(24,906 posts)so only a simple majority is required to seat a SC Justice. No way any of Trumps radical appointments would be on the court if they needed more than a simple majority.

(10,333 posts)Instead, the always-online crowd thought it would be much cooler to shit on good Democrats for meaningless likes on their social media feeds (probably most of which came from Russian and Republican trolls that loved the divisiveness and depressing voter turnout that they caused).
If THOSE types are still blaming Democrats for these problems and not themselves for thinking they support the right ideals while hockey assisting Republicans accomplish everything they want to accomplish, even more reason to call them out on their bullshit and rightfully point the finger at them as well as Republicans for causing this shit. Point out how fucking stupid they were and explain how their actions and words directly led to this day. Marginalize them.

Second, voting used to matter until the SC said it didn't. 2000 was a trick on most people and flipped the seats and who sits in them massively. Gore wins, then Roberts never gets on the court.
The Roberts domino continues
3rd people in power have made money=speech empowered the Right/repubs because their voting base is dying,
4th Mitch controlled the Senate on his side with an iron fist. didn't vote or confirm Garland unpresidented and then changed the rules after RBG died.

(58,785 posts)certainly play a part. EITHER liberal progressive Democratic or conservative anti-progressive Republican majorities will take power. Yet some who say they share the ideals of Democrats believe the path to power for them requires the Democratic Party losing to the Republican.
Note neither Republicans nor the RW extremists on SCOTUS are mentioned in Justice Democrat leader Waleed Shaheed's response, 6 hours ago, to women (and men) losing their reproductive rights:

Protecting/reestablishing abortion rights is incompatible with defeating Democrats. We're IT. The only IT.

(1,983 posts)In 2016, the Republicans won. So of course we couldn't stop TFG's racist immigration policies.
In 2018, we won the House. So even though the GOP expanded their Senate majority, the ACA was saved from further attempts to repeal it. So we delivered.
In 2020, well, we only have a 50-50 Senate.
In 2022-- does anyone think that if Republicans win, they won't try to ban abortion?
In that moron's tweet, the Democrats were in fact right after time.
God, I hate these people that just spread cynicism and nihilism and don't actually ever get anything done.

they want others to believe. It's as deliberate as anything Fox puts out. Not as cleverly constructed as what Rush fed his dittoheads; but once subversives get enough people coming for what they're serving up, they don't actually need all that cleverness to advance the strategy.
With you with that last. Wouldn't say they don't get anything done, though, with election margins as thin as they are. They've had successes, just not what they tell good, idealistic people they're trying to do. And they're probably feeling really jazzed right now.
Saikat Chakrabarti heard our Democratic leaders speak out yesterday, including President Biden's speech and AG Garland's promise that the DoJ will fight for reproductive rights, including protecting women who travel to other states for abortion and taking the position that states can't ban abortion pills. This is what Chakrabarti told his followers:

(46,055 posts)to be frank, an idiot. DSA/Justice Dems seem to be trying to deflect from their own role in women losing their human rights today. And, as usual, instead of slamming Republicans, they are using the opportunity to once again criticize Democrats.

(3,373 posts)The 2010 elections absolutely killed us and has lead to a lot of the craziness from the Republicans since.
RBG not retiring in Obama's first 6 years was a massive error.
The people who couldn't stomach voting for Hillary in 2016 despite being told that losing that election would result in the Supreme Court being lost for decades if Trump won.
Not retaking the Senate in 2018 and having no room for error after the 2020 elections that should have given us a larger margin in the Senate.

(33,344 posts)that allows minority rule. The Electoral College allows a candidate who doesn't win the most votes in the country to become President. States with significantly less population have the same number of US Senators that states do with more population.
The Senate controls the process of approving/ seating Justices of the Supreme Court.
Democrats MUST turn out for EVERY election in order to balance the system having been designed to give more weight to agrarian (slave holding) states.
Today, women were told that based upon the state in which they live, they may no longer have bodily autonomy. Think about that.

Each time we didn't win an election is the reason Roe was overturned.
Reagan winning was a step toward overturning Roe.
GHW Bush winning was a step toward overturning Roe.
Bush 43 winning was a step toward overturning Roe.
Trump winning was a step toward overturning Roe.
Each time we didn't elect enough pro-choice Democrats to Congress was a step toward overturning Roe.
Each time we lost a seat in either chamber of Congress was a step toward overturning Roe.
We didn't win using the rules of the system we have.
We didn't vote; we didn't turn out; we didn't do what we needed to do in critical elections over the last 50 years because each election counted.
Each time lost was a step toward overturning Roe.

Justice Democrats is a marginal group who get more attention from detractors than actual Democratic voters. Their most dominant purpose seems to be to enable moderates to drag progressives.

If they don't vote for you, actively discourage people from voting for you, and blame you for everything else, in what sense are they Democrats?
