why did he stay silent on abortion?
Surely not much has changed.

(16,829 posts)Of course it wasn't. There was no reliable medical care, and women had no rights.

(2,357 posts)surly and shouting/marching for an equal rights amendment. Our mothers couldn't even get a credit card without a man co-signing for them. My pay was never equal to the guys I worked with (doing the same or even harder work).

(2,672 posts)people who see the fluid progression of the constitution where 250 year old men could not see how things were going to unfold.
The other group included Alito, ABC, Clarence etc and who love to think they could live in the world 250 years ago and just add those rules to today...give me a fucking break. ABC and Clarence were not even full citizens then let alone capable of being justices or judges or law students or even people who can vote and own property.
Sorry white men from 250 years were good people, but they were not progressive and they were not flexible and they didn't think that blacks were equals and they didn't think women were equals and they didn't think white men who weren't educated were equal and they didn't think white men who didn't own property were equal to them.
Sam Alito sucks at the law

(16,829 posts)He saw history evolving to fulfill things that were implicit in the constitution.
I never dreamed we'd go backwards.

Concomitantly, mens business was nearly everything else, and the ladies need not trouble themselves with that.
Some exceptions may apply.

(42,307 posts)The word "woman" does not appear in the Constitution either. Seems like Alito thinks women have no rights at all.
