I was just asked to be on The National to discuss Roe and abortion...and then I found out it would be a panel with a "pro-life/anti-abortion" voice. I am livid and sent this reply. I couldn't care less if this means I will not be asked back to the CBC. It needed to be said.

(4,845 posts)1. Great.
I tried to watch a CNN clip earlier but I couldn't get through 2 minutes of it as the forced birth white male spokesman gave the most pathetic excuse and said the media and Collin/Manchin lied about Brett's precedent promise. It was disgusting and full of gaslighting. There is nothing worthy to discuss or listen to.

I have to decline the CBC's interview request if you are also interviewing a forced birth advocate. There is zero point in being on a show that elevates those who lie to deny medical care. In fact, elevating these people is part of the problem and why we are dealing with this snowballing medical tragedy.
Maternal deaths will rise. People will get Clandestine abortions and suffer horrendous consequences. People won't be able to get the best care for miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies. And many forms of contraception are also on the line. There is no scientific counter to this travesty. Just lies. Every single scientific opinion points to the necessity of legal, safe, affordable abortion and contraception.
I've pulled a fetal skull out of the abdomen of someone who was butchered by a cheap provider because they couldn't afford good care. I will not participate in false equivalency.
If you are interested in a factual discussion about where things are and the myriad of ways lives will be upended to satisfy fetal worship in the United States and what people stand to lose in Canada if you go down this pathway, I am free. If you want me to explain how all the forced birth talking points are lies, I'm your gal. If you want me to explain what it was like in Canada when we had abortion laws, I am also an expert here. But I will not participate in any program that features those who seek to harm women.
The CBC has a massive platform and it should not be used to platform the illusion that there is a debate. Abortion is a human right and when you platform forced birthers that means you subscribe to the belief that those who can get pregnant are not deserving of human rights.
Respectfully,
Jen
