Lawrence O'Donnell just said that GWB was the first guy to lose the popular vote and still win

I love the guy, and he's a good liberal, but how the Hell can a man of his stature think that Bush Jr.'s 2000 win was the first time in history that someone lost the popular vote yet still won? Come on. It's happened 5 times, 3 before him. He really should know this.

He says it at about the 1:06 mark.

1. Ralph Nader helped that, and Jill Stein clinched it in 2016. In every critical swing state Hillary

lost by less than 1%, and in those states Jill Stein received 1% of the vote

I have to conclude from that the the Green Party never cared for women’s rights. Actions speak louder than words, and their actions in 2000 and 2016 told us exactly who they are

From Morher Jones magazine

Katha Pollitt of The Nation has condemned Nader for failing to speak out aggressively on topics like race, abortion, and civil rights. During the 1996 campaign, she points out, Nader dismissed internal Green Party debate about same-sex marriage as “gonadal politics.”

So Lawrence will need to clarify or correct himself before we know what he meant.

But how did he win in 2004?

That was Demo revenge time. Strong candidate in Kerry. Bush -illegal war, pro-SA, and Katrina....total fuck-up (never mind 9/11). I will never believe that a majority of Americans voted for Bush in 2004. Sorry, non-sensical to me.

moment of demanding that they turn the Ohio voting machines back on in 2012. I am convinced that they were going to run the same playbook as 2004 until it became apparent that Romney had no path to victory.

8. Oh the things one can learn from Lawrence O'Donnell

He’s the most brilliant man he’s ever met and he knows everything he says with confidence. Like how Donald Trump will never run for President, because the financial disclosures would stop him. Or how, once he was running, there was no way he’d be nominated. And after he was nominated, it was scientifically impossible for him to win.

But then, then, Lawrence let us in on how Michael Avenatti was going to bring him down, through the sheer force of his integrity and skill.

Oh the many things that Lawrence O’Donnel knows. If only I could know half as much with such confidence and the endorsement of experts.
