Sinema LITERALLY blocked codifying Roe into law
Kyrsten Sinema is one of the villains in the #Dobbs decision and history will remember her as one

(15,235 posts)Even if there was no filibuster, it wouldn't pass. Manchin voted against it. Sinema voted for it.

(42,632 posts)That is not a good idea IMHO, but I so understand the frustration and yes, rage.
I say this with my bona fides as one of Sinema's earliest critics (at least since I joined DU, I am sure others took issue with her LONG before I did in mid 2018 when I joined here), long before it was fashionable.
Back then she was already tipping her hand in the House, voting with Trump close to the highest of all Congressional Dems (62.6% in the 115th, with only the rabid forced birther, Biden-bashing, Rethug campaigning/fundraising for, anti LGBTQ far too often, anti immigrant, drill baby drill, big oil, big private, for profit prison booster and all-round 'worst Dem in the House now by 1000 miles' Henry Cuellar of TX had a higher +/- Trump ratio than Sinema, combined those two voted with Trump over 60 points higher than their district makeups predicted).
For added consternation, unlike a Manchin or a Colin Peterson (MN, ruby red shithole MAGAt district chocked full of absolute POS racists and RW christothugs that he amazingly somehow won over and over until 2020 finally did him in) who were both stuck in Deep Red states or districts, they (Sinema and Cuellar) had no legit reason, they both were in solid Blue seats.
Cuellar, for the record was at almost 70% (68.8%) agreement of votes with Trump during the 115th, just ahead of the 2nd highest Trump score for a Congressional Dem, Conor Lamb at 68.0%).
My critiques (absolutely within the bounds of TOS, I never had an issue with that) back then of Sinema did not endear me to a certain crowd, but I think I have been more than backed up by the events that have followed.

(2,979 posts)Otherwise, Republicans would control the senate and then we could kiss womens rights goodbye.
...Yeah, that ol defense that Manchin and Sinema supporters loved to dole out rings kinda hollow now. Morbidly amusing really. All that stuff that their presence was supposed to prevent Republicans from killing off is now slowly dying because of their stonewalling.
At some point you really have to wonder if their supporters, deep down, secretly love what these two are helping to echo in.

Instead, they both worked against efforts to protect those rights.

(1,845 posts)Sadly she's got 2 more years.
But there is already substantial motivation and funding from Dems in her state to unseat her in the primary (like the rethugs in NC did with cawthorn). I've been following it a bit and read this interesting article about someone who could be a promising candidate to challenge her.
Ruben Gallegos Fury Over Uvalde Is Exactly Why He Must Challenge Sinema

The rote responses of most congressional Republicans to the murder Tuesday of 19 Texas schoolchildren and two of their teachers were so wrenchingly vapid, so grotesquely lacking in any sense of urgency, that Representative Ruben Gallego could not take it any longer. The Arizona Democrat read a statement from Republican Senator Ted Cruz in which the Texan claimed those who demanded action to avert future school shootings were politicizing the tragedy. And he responded appropriately.
Fuck you @tedcruz you care about a fetus but you will let our children get slaughtered, replied Gallego. Just get your ass to Cancun. You are useless.
In case anyone missed the point, Gallego came back a few minutes later with an even blunter message on Twitter: Just to be clear fuck you @tedcruz you fucking baby killer.
Gallegos honest fury was refreshing, and he undoubtedly spoke for a good many of the tens of millions of Americans who are enraged by Republican obstruction of action on gun control and a host of other vital matters, including the future of a democracy that is profoundly threatened by Donald Trumps partisan allies. Yet Gallegos frustration did not end there. The congressman ripped into a fellow Democrat from his own state, Senator Kyrsten Sinema, who has joined with West Virginia Democrat Joe Manchin to block filibuster reforms that would allow Democrats to use their majorities to advance popular gun-control measures.
