of women who came to their state to seek safe abortion, here here!. But Red states want to arrest and prosecute them when returning to their home state. I can't believe this is even real! Sounds like something from a bad movie. Somebody wake me up!

(63,836 posts)McConnell said they would ban abortion nationwide, they would do that too. Vote them out in November, give any small donation to help abortion agencies now.

(12,232 posts)as well. I read that Hawley said that many will leave the red states allowing republicans to secure total dominance in those states as well as the electoral college states. I guess he is confident that women are the weaker sex. Over all, they don't know women very well, except for their inner circle.

(5,499 posts)The majority in red states are barely smart enough to remember to breathe every 2-3 seconds. Their management of these extreme laws is going to be a cluster fuck, just like the rest of their states. Bubba talks a great game but he's too much of a gluton to actually do more than feed his own face (see line his own pockets).

My point is that they don't manage their states very well. And their real interest seems to be with what they can make money at.

First, they insisted it is a state matter, and so the Supreme Court agreed with them. Now they want interstate involvement.
Second, they cannot suspend the First Amendment. Soon there will be a huge charity to help with travel expenses for women in red states. They can't prohibit the spread of information on that.
Third, they may get pushback within their own state from their own state's voters once the reality sets in and people realize they want the right to choose back. They can't do anything to stop lobbying of state legislatures or candidates campaigning for state seats on pro-choice grounds.

(13,180 posts)Red states can't prosecute you for something you do in a Blue state and vice versa. Here's something from the web.
"The Sixth Amendment mandates that criminal trials be conducted 'by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed.'"

Note, the article does say civil lawsuits are different, so someone in Texas can sue a Texan for something done in, say California. But there's no "extradition" concern.

They wanted it to be a state matter. So it's a state matter. Now they are already trying to have it both ways.

(3,858 posts)Texas can no more prosecute a woman for an abortion that took place in California than California can prosecute someone who possessed a machine gun while in Texas.
