And abortion is not the primary issue for a lot of them. It's just like other popular issues like gun control. The issue itself is popular, but overall it's not a high priority for voters so they don't always vote for candidates who support it.

We only have a couple of Trump cultists. Most of them are about to give up bothering with politics because the Republicans have gone insane but they stopped trusting the Democrats long ago. I've found the crowd at DU really doesn't want to hear the reasons why. It is easier to just paint them all as illiterate racist rubes.

For my Republican relations, it's usually, "Because I always have voted Republican," which is understandable enough, but not really helpful.

I'll skip posting a perspective of poor/working class folk in this part of America. However - If we want to flip them, we need to not only get things done where they live that make a difference, but also make sure they know Democrats did it. Considering what we are up against media wise, that 2nd part might be the hardest.

Democratic platforms since the 1960's have been for Civil and Economic rights. For upsetting the Status Quo.
The wanna be Jim Jones and Boss Hoggs of the world don't want the Status Quo upset.
So they spread a lot of bullshit about Democrats taking away their stuff and giving it to "those lazy people". Or will be punishing them for their faith. Encouraging them to harden their hearts, to be bullies "for Christ".
And once a simple mind starts being a bully, it's hard to stop, because it's so easy to justify piling on and hurting those that "everyone" agrees are bad guys.

Sex with the guy who they contracted (right or wrong) to provide financial support and social status is a duty. The trade-off they make; they are subservient to another Daddy who will take care of them and makes all the hard decisions in their lives.
So bodily autonomy is a foreign and scary thing for them to even consider. They have to actually make decisions for themselves and be responsible for their own future, their own family planning.
It's one thing to sneak around like a teenager to get your way without Daddy finding out - "oh, it's girl stuff". It's another thing to tell Daddy he can't make you do something you don't want to do and expect him to respect you as a full marriage partner when you both were raised that the Man is in charge.

who are all over media, Tik Tok, and at "pro life" rallies giddily cheering on this abomination. It's nauseating to watch them. And, the main reason these despicable fools (to put it mildly) voted for Trump is because they are one issue voters. These suckers WANTED this, and he was going to give it to them. Which he and Moscow Mitch did. They were willing to sell out their country, and fuck over their fellow women over their own cult beliefs.

I have said it before and I will repeat it. RACISM in this country trumps everything else.
Then there are the women who are homophobic.
Then there are the women with low self-esteem who cater to men...any kind of men.
Then there are the women who are religious zealots but haven't read or do not understand the Bible except for what they have been told by men.

Some of this shit seems so counter intuitive. One would think that racist and hateful women would not want an explosion of non-white babies being born to be cared for with their tax dollars so they would be pro-choice.

I wonder how many of these anti-abortion women actually have children, never had children, and don't want any children?

I found this out when I was door-to-door canvassing.

A couple of women said "my husband makes the political decisions in our household". So its like he gets two votes. They don't have to bother finding out about the candidates so they just tune out completely.

There are Republican women, many women are pro life. People vote for the person that represents their values and that person might be a Democrat, might be a Republican. That's how the system works.
