I used to get all soppy about the 4th. Since Trump my feelings have ratcheted down dramatically. After this week they have bottomed out.

I don't care if I ever hear that drinking song we have as a national anthem again. Screw it.

We have become an oligarch of wealth and religious old white men.

I keep thinking about how the more progressive European countries are looking at the US. Hell, I can't imagine what the Ukranians are thinking. We're all "yeah, Ukraine. Fight for your democracy! Fight for your freedoms!" and here at home we're losing our democracy and freedoms to RW nutjobs.

It's just about drinking and setting off fireworks and acting stupid. Fire works are illegal without a special permit but local law enforcement refuses to respond to complaints. When possible we leave in the evenings when the crazy starts but it gets harder and harder to get away from it.
