(15,536 posts)That election was stolen from her. If you think Trump and the GOP's criminality only started after he was in office, then you're wrong. I actually doubt he even won the GOP primary. He's been a crook and a criminal all his life and he cozied up to Putin promising him who knows how much to help him "win".

(42,302 posts)the first Black president, the first female presidential candidate and one of the lions of women's rights.
I assume this is a fundraising pitch? Does it say anything about Republicans?

(506 posts)The first woman presidential candidate was Victoria Woodhull in 1872 against the Republican Ulysses S Grant. She was a very interesting woman. This might be worth a read:
https://www.nps.gov/articles/the-first-woman-to-run-for-president-victoria-woodhull.htm
"Victoria Claflin Woodhull was one of the 19th centurys most colorful characters. She was a womens rights and suffrage advocate, a popular public speaker, a newspaper publisher who introduced American audiences to the works of Karl Marx, the first woman to operate a Wall Street brokerage firm, and the first female presidential candidate in 1872.
Born into poverty in rural Ohio, Victoria married the 28-year-old Dr. Canning Woodhull when she was only 15. Victoria soon found out, however, that her husband was a hopeless drunkard who spent his free time in taverns and brothels. Her husbands freewheeling ways meant that Victoria was required to work outside the home. For several years she worked several jobs as a cigar store clerk, a seamstress, a stage actress, and as a spiritual medium. After her divorce from Dr. Woodhull, Victoria began her association with the Free Love movement, which sought to erase the stigma of divorce and make it easier for women to escape abusive marriages."

(1,654 posts)Theirs is a ridiculous losing strategy. They don't ever seem to understand alienating everyone except your own tiny group means you'll hardly ever win any elections. But I suppose that means they'll get to remain pure and angry at everyone forever.

(10,500 posts)Seriously, her campaign wasn't as badly run as people declared it to be.
And Trump's campaign was a total disaster. He just won anyway. James Comey made sure of that.

(25,464 posts)It's funny that Our Revolution/Justice Democrats types are aways dramatic about how powerful and diabolical the Democratic Establishment is, how much money they have. Rigging elections, bribing everybody. So why didn't they win in 2016? Obviously, neoliberal "corporate Dems" are in cahoots with Republicans and want them to win because then they'll have an excuse not to do anything.
OKAY THAT MAKES SENSE.

(1,189 posts)Since Democrats control the Senate, they could pass a law to codify abortion rights in response but they wont.
Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema refuse because their corporate puppet masters care more about keeping the filibuster than women being treated as full human beings with rights.
John, we have a chance to beat back rightwing forces in these Democratic primaries to save our rights before its too late. Chip in here to help replace corporate-backed Democrats with empathetic human beings who care about women and privacy!"

Most (Dem) candidates are a mix.
(I've always be against Corporations Run Amok in the ways some, too many have, etc)
Hillary had such serious credentials, brains, empathy.
Obama less but good credentials, brains, and empathy.
RGB (I'm one that believes her seat probably would have been loss to a Conservative, so she fought until she could) high credits, pioneer, brains, and empathy.

(25,464 posts)And the white swing state people voted for Trump because of "economic anxiety" which was totally the fault of presidents Clinton/Obama and Hillary for being neoliberals and ignoring them and of course because Hillary didn't have a few more rallies that would totally make people who hated her vote for her. Okay then!
