Tear gas used as Roe V. Wade protest disrupts last hours of 2022 Arizona Legislature

Police fired tear gas to disperse anti-abortion demonstrators from outside the Arizona Capitol Friday night, forcing lawmakers to huddle briefly in a basement inside the building as they rushed to complete their 2022 session.

Thousands of protesters had gathered earlier on the Capitol grounds in Phoenix, divided into groups both supporting and condemning the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision overturning Roe v. Wade.

SWAT team members with the Department of Public Safety fired tear gas from second floor of the old Capitol building to disperse protesters in the mall between the current House and Senate buildings. KPHO-TV reported the officers opened fire when several anti-abortion protesters started banging on glass doors of the Senate building.

Authorities said there were no injuries or arrests.

Sounds like the cops were more a disruption than the protesters.

They need MORE funds! There's a-doins a-transpirin! Start deputizin some itchy trigger fingers while you're at it! Most Rittenhouse-wannabes will kill protestors just for the exposure!

This summer's just getting started, literally and figuratively.

Did you feel that way on Jan. 6?
My wife went to the protest around 8, the crowds were dispersing peacefully. An hour later protesters are trying to break down doors (on video). I’m suspicious.

I don't really see the problem with getting them to disperse.

"KPHO-TV reported the officers opened fire when several anti-abortion protesters started banging on glass doors of the Senate building."

Not sure it would be a good idea to allow some anti-abortion loons to break into a government building while the legislature is in session.

Again.
