The Republican Party, once a proud proponent of limited government, has turned itself into a font of sexual innuendo and legal intrusion into the most intimate aspects of personal life. Protecting children from predators is a worthy aim, to be sure, but the GOP is obsessing about all aspects of sex.

Most of us make that assumption.

Honest folk think most people are honest. Mean people think most people are mean. Sexually obsessed people think most people have the same thoughts they do.

But, the pedophilia thing goes beyond that. It's considered one of the most heinous crimes one can commit. So, what better thing to accuse one's enemies of being than a pedophile? (Which is why child molesters don't even fare well in prison.) Or, in the Republicans' case, to distract from the fact that so many of them are the ones who are actually pedophiles. Projection is their M.O., after all. It's easier to get people to hate Democrats, when you have them convinced that Dems are pedophiles. And, what better way to get people to do violence against Dems, when you have them convinced they're doing a noble thing in committing said violence?
