The innate perversity of conservatives, illustrated.

Before Roe came down, said a former Republican congressman familiar with the party’s campaign operation, “Everything was going our way. Gas is above $5. Inflation is a giant problem.”

That pretty much says it all.

Fourth Amendment: Protects the right of privacy against unreasonable searches and seizures by the government.

Fifth Amendment: Provides for the right against self-incrimination, which justifies the protection of private information.

That's the only prevailing philosophy for the GOP--winning at all costs. They don't care who gets hurt. They don't have any qualms about being hypocrites or what's in the best interests of the country or even if our Republic survives. If they're on the top of the ash heap that's all that matters.

The Republican Party has become a cancer in the body politic and it's metastasizing.

The good news? What I've seen since the SCOTUS decision came down is a huge number of young people in the streets protesting with righteous anger and genuine despair. They know as their mothers and grandmothers knew that reproductive liberty, the right to control one's body and ultimately one's own destiny is frigging EVERYTHING.

Turn that outrage into votes? We have a fighting chance to turn this around.

And yes, even Republicans realize that.
