Can we start a Safe Harbor listing for women in say Idaho and Wyoming, etc. that need our help?

I don't have a lot of money to give but I do have a spare room and would be willing to help someone book an appointment and take them to an appointment and give them a place to stay amd provide meals and whatever else they needed while they were here. Maybe we could start some sort of register of people who have places available. Many of the surrounding states are going to be zero abortion states very soon. Not sure how we'd do this but I'd work with whoever, administrator, other members to set something up.

1. Contact your local abortion fund if you want to do this type of work. There's no reason to reinvent

the wheel. They already have systems in place for funding and helping people travel and stay to get abortions. They usually prefer hotel rooms -- no one wants to stay with some random person when getting healthcare -- but your local fund may need extra capacity.

There are organizations doing this.

It's not as simple as you may think.

Uncoordinated efforts by the naive will do a lot of harm.

"If you’re in a state that just banned abortion, DO NOT reach out to these people who are offering to let folks stay at their place if they need an abortion."

You may find that thread and related ones interesting, if this is new to you.

10. Excellent advice. You can be scammed on either end ...

Either the person offering help is a phony, or if you're offering help, you could be scammed/ripped off by unscrupulous (supposedly) pregnant persons.

7. Wait, you wouldn't think antis wouldn't try to keep people from getting abortions?

After all the footage and coverage of antis standing outside clinics yelling at patients trying to get inside?

on a simple way to help that he/she could afford and would be happy to do didn’t immediately think of the worst outcomes that could be exploited by those with evil intents.

In my experience this seems to occur when someone truly has good intentions. Things seem straightforward…till someone points out a major flaw.

No need to berate…just point out.
