(32,238 posts)Adam Schiff wouldn't last 1 week here, the wait and see crowd would excommunicate him.
It's damn obvious who they are and aren't investiaging.
Maybe I missed someone, but it seems to me that DOJ is hands off politicians, former politicians, former cabinet members, former presidents.
The FBI should have knocked on Mark Meadows door months ago.

Once again, my question:
How do we people consent to be governed when secret memos are held and then released to over-rule the law itself?
That is governance by DECREE, by FIAT.
And that is un-American.

(17,368 posts)Administration sunsets? If the President (or the AG) appoints and the appointment expires at the wish of the incoming President or AG (i.e., sunsets), why would a Democratic Presidency accept a memo providing administrative guidance drawn up by not just ant Republican administration, but the Reagan administration no less?
Is the Biden Admin reviewing the legal opinion asserted in this memo, No. 1. And No. 2, should it apply in a context wherein there was a clear effort to subvert a legitimate national election and, in effect, conduct an insurrection -- an attempt to overthrow the legitimately elected President?
Anyone have insight and answers to these questions.
I hope the Biden Administration is not simply accepting existing legal guidance on face value without reviewing its applicability in light of the current context -- a clear effort to subvert and overthrow a Constitutionally elected President. I would think that under no circumstances, would evidence related to the need for an investigation or for the investigation itself would be protected by executive privilege. There is no higher need Constitutionally or for the nation's security than the need to get accountability for the insurrection this right. If this distinction cannot be made, then our democratic form of government and sanctity of our Constitution are screwed.

(13,849 posts)Surely the AG has total control over the use of an old secret OLC memo brought forward for this unique moment -- investigation of a coup plotted and executed by a sitting and then ex president. Brought forward specifically to prevent a charged participant from prosecution.
I keep saying: governance by secret memo used to over-ride established law is governance by FIAT or DECREE.
Un-American.

(34,890 posts)Not that he was really harping about it. He more or less just stated what he's seeing. I get that people are impatient, but I think the tweet in the OP is reading too much into Schiff's comments. It's good that he has little or no knowledge of what DOJ is doing. I just proves their independence from each other. As it should be. I'll also add that nobody saw those Proud Boys indictments coming, including Adam Schiff, I'm betting.
Grasswire2
(13,849 posts)And so I suggest you stop telling him to stop talking about it.
Your "indications" are likely less revelatory than Schiff's observations.

(17,481 posts)DoJ is obviously doing something by the continuing prosecutions of the Jan 6th rioters, the GJ supeonas, the search warrants that have become public along with DoJ's request to the committee for witness interview transcripts.
The committee keeps its own information close to the vest, too. Often when asked specific questions by reporters or in interviews, whichever committee member is being asked usually says they can't disclose anything. Yet DoJ, the agency that can actually bring charges and prosecute them, is supposed to say everything they're doing tipping off the perps in the process?

(37,341 posts)stop with the negativity. You are a real Debbie Downer, Eeyore.
I guess those 6 years working for the U.S. Attorney taught you nothing about how the DOJ works.
There are a few here that can educate you.

(9,443 posts)Joel Greenberg, a former close friend of Matt Gaetz's, pleaded GUILTY to six charges in May of LAST YEAR.
Last month he was granted another delay in sentencing as he continues to, supposedly, cooperate with authorities.
Are you effing kidding me? Cooperate on what after a damn year??? And Gaetz remains uncharged and unindicted.
This is a Jeffrey-Epstein-level of fuck-up.

If the question was "Do you think Jeffrey Clark will turn on him if evidence shows criminal conspiracy with tfg?"
I have yet to see any indication of that" and it would still be honest.

(4,913 posts)He admitted he is now SEEING MORE of a sense of urgency from the DOJ. He then said I am not SEEING anything about Trump. That statement does not mean Trump is not being investigated.
He admitted, at first I was not seeing a sense of urgency, now I am. He doesn't have any idea what the DOJ is doing, just like everyone else. He is using his position to pressure the DOJ. He wants them to move faster. He wants to make sure the public stays involved. He wants Trump charged.
He did not say, Trump is not being investigated. "I am not seeing" does not mean it is not happening.
