"Just say that the election was corrupt..."
The pattern is almost identical.
In the first instance, Trump wanted the President of Ukraine to publicly state that he was investigating the Bidens. He was impeached for it.
In the second instance, he wanted his Attorney General and the DOJ to say the election was corrupt.
In both instances, he didn't need any evidence that either happened. He wanted to convict with lies and propaganda.
Just as he had done a few years ago when he started the lie that Obama's birth certificate was a fake. He didn't need the evidence. He just needed someone to believe his lies and to repeat them over and over.
Even after Obama produced his birth certificate, he still said it was "fake".
His lies are as corrosive as acid.

(10,800 posts)Mayor Koch has stated that hate and rancor should be removed from our hearts. I do not think so. I want to hate these muggers and murderers. They should be forced to suffer ... Yes, Mayor Koch, I want to hate these murderers and I always will. ... How can our great society tolerate the continued brutalization of its citizens by crazed misfits? Criminals must be told that their CIVIL LIBERTIES END WHEN AN ATTACK ON OUR SAFETY BEGINS![44]
According to a contemporaneous article in the New York Amsterdam News, the ad was "widely condemned," including by then-Mayor Koch. Colin Moore, one of the attorneys defending one of the Central Park defendants, said that the ad "proved that anything is possible in America," and that "even a fool can become a multi-millionaire."[45][46]
According to defendant Yusef Salaam, quoted in a February 2016 article in The Guardian, Trump "was the fire starter" in 1989, as "common citizens were being manipulated and swayed into believing that we were guilty."[47] Salaam said his family received death threats after papers ran Trump's full-page ad urging the death penalty.[47]

"Investigating" Hunter Biden was intended to be a scare tactic to KEEP JOE BIDEN OUT of the Presidential race.
Nothing more. Chump never wanted to face Biden in the 2020 election because he knew he'd lose!
Have we seen enough? I think we have.
Let's get to work and elect some Democrats and save this country.

(6,679 posts)Donald Trump listed $1.2 billion of losses on his tax filings from 1985 to 1994, according to a blockbuster report released by the New York Times Tuesday. Those were high-flying years for Trump, then a young, brash businessman getting more headlines-per-square-foot than any other developer. In 1985, Trump appeared by himself on the Forbes 400 list of Americas richest people for the first time, after inventing a fake persona to lie about a transfer of wealth from his father.
Forbes fell for that rusetaking Fred Trump off the list and listing Donald alone. But five years later, we published an explosive story, uncovering the trouble brewing inside Trump's empire. Leaning on nonpublic documents, Forbes writers Richard L. Stern and John Connolly identified the same sort of profitability problems that are still making headlines 29 years later. Forbes took Donald Trump off its list for the first time that year, explaining that a decline in Atlantic City gaming revenues, unmasking of misstated asset values, declining real estate values and massive debt may have put The Donald within hailing distance of zero.

(2,541 posts)... & then before he can be called on a specific lie he tells 5-10 more lies so reporters are always in a position of catch up and nothing ever gets the reporting that it should, COVID is a very good example of this. DT was able to lie repeatedly about COVID that it was a "Hoax" or no worse then common cold and he never got called on it by the press. He would go out to that podium everyday there for a few months and never did a reporter actually ask him about it all the while 1000's of Americans in hospitals across America were dying each day.
