Will women be refused diagnostics or cancer treatment if they are pregnant or could be?
Too soon to answer maybe but it seems like a natural extension of where states like Ohio are going.

(41,958 posts)My mother, in 1968, died from a soft tissue sarcoma that had grown in her abdomen and been disguised by a concurrent pregnancy in 64-65. The pain in her abdomen was misdiagnosed as varicose veins caused by the pregnancy, and continued to be thought of that way for several months after my sister was born. By the time they found it, it had metastasized. They did radical, disfiguring surgery on her anyway, and its hard to describe her condition and her slow death.
Things are better now diagnostically but if they choose not to end the pregnancy, the outcome could be the same.
It was a nightmare.

(58,622 posts)I've heard a few stories from doctors and women, and there are real instances where terminating the pregnancy is in the best interests of the woman's health. The health and well being of the woman is way more important than the fetus IMHO.
Having said that, it's really none of my business why, or even whether a woman wants an abortion. I always vote pro-choice on that basis.
