15. I was at an event where Cheri Bustos and Tammy Duckworth spoke.

It was a smaller event. One of the mothers had kept her boys out of school so they could meet the legislators. One of the boys was behind me. He was about seven. I picked him up and set him down in front of me so he could talk to them and shake hands. He might not have liked being picked up by a stranger, but his mother did not object.

When my kids were small, I took them to a town hall to see the late, great Senator Paul Simon. They were 5, 7, and 9. I hoped they would remember. I asked them a few years ago. They remembered.
