Alaska Airlines will still reimburse medical travel costs after abortion ruling
Alaska Air Group Inc. (NYSE: ALK) told employees in a message Friday that it would continue to cover travel expenses for certain medical procedures in the wake of the Supreme Courts decision Friday to undo abortion protections
SeaTac-based Alaska Air Group is the parent company of Alaska Airlines and regional carrier Horizon Air.
Dozens of companies across the U.S., including top Washington state employers like Starbucks, Microsoft and Amazon, have said they would cover expenses for medical procedures like abortion and gender-affirming care for employees living in states where access is unavailable.
We will continue, just as we always have, to provide employees with extensive benefits to support your health and well-being, no matter where you live, Alaska said in its post. This includes reimbursing travel for certain medical procedures and treatments if they are not available where you live. Todays Supreme Court decision does not change that.
