(46,705 posts)to provide for them, and where they get caught in an uncaring system is irresponsible and inhumane. Our society cannot help people reach their full potential, when it's creating the very obstacles that will accomplish the reverse.

(9,988 posts)The cost of having a baby in this country is astronomical in comparison to moat other countries with universal healthcare. Even for an uncomplicated birth, the cost can be $5,000 or more. For a woman needing a C-section, it can be $30,000. If insurance covers it, youll not be out of too much. But in those states that refused to expand Medicaid, and Texas is one of them, many poor women have no healthcare coverage at all. Who will now foot the bill for their babies being born? Somehow I dont see the religious hypocrites ponying up.

(20,186 posts)including one of my brothers. She and my brother were drug addicts, and she still is. She did manage to quit using when she was pregnant with my niece. Jennifer also had 13 abortions. As horrifying as that sounds, the only thing that would have been worse is if she had taken those pregnancies to term.
