He started the ball rolling in part by giving the Christian Right too much influence and credibility. People like Gingrich took advantage of the momentum and started driving it downhill. Trump, et al, drove it off a cliff.

since I hate him so much and wanted to know if I am on the right track. I like to know the source of problems. It seems his name comes up quit a lot these days and not Nixon.

"Bonzo went to college. Why can't we?"

I was a freshman at Stony Brook University at the time.

Reagan was attempting to take away our financial aid.

in 1980 and that was my first election since I had just turned 18 that summer. All of the art students hated him and when he got shot everyone on my floor in our apt was joyous.

I feel sorry for the voters in my family. My parents' first presidential election was lost to Ike and my niece's was lost to tRump. I think my family of Dems is jinxed.

Nixon started the strategy of going after the southern vote by feeding the bigotry monster.

Gingrich was more responsible for starting the hyper-partisanship and obstructionism.

And Murdoch was responsible for turning our news media into a right wing propaganda machine.

But yeah, Reagan help make greed and selfishness all that evil crap seem charming and acceptable

Yeah, I know Labor Unions mostly supported Dems.
I did Dem GOTV phone banking at a Union set up back in the late 70's, or very early '80's.

specifically to gut US mass production industries by allowing cheap foreign imports to flood the market.

The 1930s CIO unions (UAW, etc.) were the progressive wing of the Democratic Party, supporting the civil rights movement and even playing a role in starting the Students for a Democratic Society.

The only union Reagan picked a fight with was PATCO and it was a small professional type union which had little power in organized labor as a whole.

The focus needs to be on every person who votes for the idiots. No safe spaces, no apologies.

is how he got our economy hooked on the prosperity of borrowed money. And the supply-side economics that never trickled down to the working people.
