I can't help wondering how many Republicans haven't had a decent night's sleep in months, especially since the J-6 hearings began.
Is tomorrow the day my name comes up? Who are these witnesses coming forward with information - and are they talking about me? If so, what are they saying?
The stress must be overwhelming - along with the regrets.
Why did I let myself get caught-up in this shit-storm? Why didn't I just keep my head down, and stay out of it? Why did I risk my political career, and perhaps a prison sentence, to be a 'player', 'one of the guys'?
And then there's the biggest question of all:
How did I not know that any plot concocted by a failed businessman, lying narcissist, fake billionaire, corrupt, orange-faced buffoon like Donald Trump was going to fail spectacularly?
It's not like the writing wasn't on the wall, folks.
While Trump may be the dumbest schemer in the GOP, it's not like he didn't have competition for the title.
I live hundreds of miles from D.C. - but I can smell the flop-sweat from here.

(10,171 posts)But I think there are still plenty of them with no regrets. Yet. Some of them have the idea that what they did was a noble effort to save America. Some of those will think that even after they are behind bars.

These yahoos saw the failure of Trump Steaks, Trump Airlines, Trump Casino, Trump Vodka, Trump University, and the Trump Charitable Foundation - just to name a few.
And yet they heard about Trump's Coup and thought, yeah, this IS a sure-fire winner - count me in!

Leave it to Boris Johnson to say. The United States has had their problems lately, but to me it is still THE SHINING CiTY ON THE HILL, in his latest interview.
I did not know Boris was born in New Your City!

Maybe eventually the courts will force a reconciliation via fines. But he had the cash to rob Peter to pay Paul at the moment.
How many actual providers (steaks, alcohol) never got paid?

(5,840 posts)To do so requires a conscience, and they left theirs behind long ago.
Fear, yes. Regret, no. They hope they can still get away with stealing democracy and making America a cesspool.

(27,813 posts)Regret has a way of seeping into the psyche the minute you realize there are consequences to your actions - and those consequences can be extremely unpleasant.
Regret doesn't require a conscience. It merely requires recognition that you got caught, and wish you hadn't been.

(111,079 posts)...they are thinking about it. They are worried about criminal charges, in my opinion.
There is a county clerk here in Colorado that got involved in the voting machine scam of Rudy and others and has been charged with more than a half-dozen election crimes. She is reported to be pointing her finger at Boebert.
I am sure there are many others in the same boat.

Perhaps a small barely illegal activity and then more such as taking bribes, videos of certain activities, threats against families.

(219 posts)don't have that problem of a conscious. They are not lying sleepless in bed. If anything, they are up at night plotting their next attempt at taking over. Most, if not all of them, would vote for the Orange Shytstain again. Ethics, morals, integrity, honesty, good governing, that's all for schmucks if you ask a Republican. No, we will never achieve that 'more perfect union' if conservatives have any say in it, and they want the ONLY say in all things.
