5. People do not understand DC

A lot of these folks were politically active in college; intern for members of Congress or work on campaigns; and are rewarded with advisory positions in the administration. Some then go into politics; or on to lobbying/policy thinktanks; and some go back to law school and end up in big law firms around DC.
