Today Was Different
For years, I've tracked the GQP shit-show. For decades, I've watched the slow march towards authoritarianism that broke into a full run in 2016.
I've watched the hearings with anger, rage, and disgust.
I've watched in horror as my rights and my daughters' rights were rolled back.
I'm not even sure why today was different. But it was.
Today, I cried while watching the J6 Committee hearing.
I'm an eternal optimist. I'm one of those who takes lemons and makes lemonade. Even my friends comment on how they've never seen someone who's able to pick themselves back up the way I can. I'm resilient, and I'm a patriot - with all the meaning that word carries.
Today was different.
Today brought me to tears. Today shook me to my foundation. Today made me wonder how the hell do we come back from this.
Today, I feel the storm. Tomorrow, I will awaken anew, resolve to fight on, and batten down the hatches.

I think of today as time-travel to Germany in 1938 (Didn't the crew of Star Trek do that, fictionally?)
