(22,669 posts)we have one party rooted in the 18th century, dragging lives and resources down with them. How many more lives and cities need to be devastated before they come on board...if they ever do come on board?
Isn't it time we get a permanent Democratic congressional majority and put this country back on track?

(10,270 posts)he just doesn't have the spine to tell his "Base" how dumb they are, and how much damage their level of willful stupid is causing this country. His problem is NOT that he's stupid, its that he's a coward, because its more lucrative in terms of personal, political, and financial gain.

(8,377 posts)as a Democrat. He would be 74 at that point, but he seems plenty sharp and energetic at this stage, so who knows. I think he would get a lot of support.
Not all one-percenters are like Romney -- i.e. greedy, selfish, money-grubbers who view the world as a zero-sum game -- you must trample down the masses in order to make a buck. Bloomberg is a lot more like Gates and Buffet.

(3,660 posts)I like it that he is endorsing President Obama, but is Bloomberg that popular in New York and among undecided voters.
Spider Jerusalem
(21,786 posts)and "among undecided voters" is irrelevant because Chris Christie trumps anything Bloomberg could possibly say; one of Romney's leading proponents, who mere weeks ago was saying "Obama knows nothing about leadership" suddenly praising his leadership and responsiveness and saying how wonderful he is to work with? That'll probably sway the undecideds much more than anything Bloomberg could say. The significance is "climate change as a major issue", not "endorsed Obama".

(114 posts)This morning we received a phone call from a Jewish relative who attends synagogue every day with the usual group of regulars, namely retired men. They are all so brainwashed by that film of De Souza that he actually said he was voting for Romney along with all his other Jewish friends, because 'Obama didn't meet with Netenayu' and 'he doesn't like Israel'.
We spent the rest of today printing out the truth about that film, the fact-checking, and also kept him on the phone for a long time pleading for Obama and how he signed a bill for billions to Israel, which no one seems to have any knowledge of.
We are so depressed now. We think that murderous hate campaign of Romney's is working. We are prepared for the worst. Sorry to use this post to say this, but I don't have enough posts to start my own thread. Thank you for letting me tell this. We are heartbroken.
Of all people, Jews should not be fooled by these tactics.
We know the Republicans hate blacks, so who do you think is #2 on their list?

(2,271 posts)Great endorsement in principle, but not of much use to Obama considering the late hour and the fact that New York is already in Obama's column. I think what happened is that Bloomberg wanted to be personally convinced that Obama would be reelected before he made the endorsement, as Bloomberg wants to be on the winner's side.

(4,033 posts)getting my flu shot, when a staff member and I started talking. She's taking a 3 day weekend, will be back on Tuesday. I told her to make sure she tells patients to vote if they haven't. That's when she told me of Bloomberg's endorsement. I thought about it for a minute and I began to feel much better about Tuesday's outcome.

(15,262 posts)This is old news. My father was born in a house that is below sea level today, protected by huge dikes. The ocean is rising and has been for some time. It was once about 400 feet lower and it will go up another 70 feet just from Greenland melting. Then if Antarctica melts, it will really go up. This is the scenario we now need to prepare for, not just the occasional high waves hitting one area due to one storm.
Most of the cities of the world will need to move in the near future because we warmed the earth up too much!
