Just curious- Utah

Why don’t democrats run a candidate for senate there? I was just reading they’re backing the independent candidate, and not running an actual democrat. I know Utah is a red state but how do you ever change that if you’re not putting democrat candidates on the ballot?

Is Evan McMullen (I may have misspelled it). He's a popular guy in the state and sensible. Likely to be able to beat the odious Mike Lee.

PARTICULAR candidate is almost the perfect vessel for what you describe. He's sort of a "gateway" Democrat, if you like, for the voters of Utah.

He's an independent, holds traditional lower case "conservative" views, but is likely to caucus with the Democrats (he ran as a Presidential candidate there in 2016 to siphon inevitable votes from TFG).

The voters may be scared of the "Democratic" label, but they can get a taste of the Democratic values and policies if he wins.

Assuming he caucuses with Democrats, as I expect from his ferocious anti-Trumpism stances.

Otherwise, fuck em both.

Winning a seat with someone who won't vote for Mitch McConnell as Senate Leader.

or

Putting up a "real Democrat" who won't win but might help change things...sometime later?
