". . .The Secret Service also took the unprecedented step of allowing the former detail leader to temporarily leave his job to become a White House political adviser. Anthony Ornato was hired as White House deputy chief of staff earlier this year. In that role, he helped coordinate a controversial June photo opportunity in which Trump strode defiantly across Lafayette Square to pose with a Bible after the park was forcibly cleared of peaceful protesters."

(51,512 posts)Trump knew he'd need these guys to keep his secrets. I am sure Engel is a right wing Trumper too. Who else would take the job?

(58,785 posts)Appalling that anyone who could become a tRump loyalist could qualify for a USSS presidential protection detail. We need much better psychological/moral screening.
Ornato was transferred back to the SES before Biden but to a management position in SES training and employee development, nothing to do with the president. Sounds like a come-down from his pre-WH SES position which was on the operations side, Deputy Assistant Director of Investigations, rather than personnel support.
