Could it be because DOJ has plans for a sweep before the committee reconvenes in July?
Could it be that the committee and DOJ are cooperating more than we think?

(22,031 posts)It appears she was subjected to witness intimidation. Who knows what else she's experienced?
She changed lawyers so perhaps the lawyer suggested that Ms. Hutchinson should testify early to get it over with.
Perhaps the committee felt the need to get her explosive testimony before the public before the July 4th weekend. It's certainly going to be talked and written about this weekend.
Time will tell. Like nearly everything else, the truth will come out.

(43,128 posts)They're juggling a lot of things. Committee, grand juries, public opinion, witnesses. They're on a roll and the faster they get this story out there the better. A lot of MAGA bubbles burst before July 4th holiday.
Yes on question #2. Cooperating but with respective interests in tow.
Yesterday's testimony speaks to the Committee's confidence all along, to which the public has not been privy. The end is determined but the game still must be played. Snipers in the trees, disarm the metal detectors is all anyone will ever need to know about that sad day and that pathetic man. There is no political rehabilitation possible. They stuck the fork in him and he's in the broiler.

The ban is a terrible injustice too and discussions need to be yelled from the rooftops.
Give the public two things to talk about during July 4th get-togethers.

(23,526 posts)and he does a lot of interviews. I don't think he would go out of his way to say he sees no evidence the DOJ is doing anything if he didn't believe that. Ruins his credibility.

(22,920 posts)that he is in attorney mode, parsing words (though mindful of staying in his integrity)? To my knowledge, he hasn't said he's privy to information -- more than the rest of us are -- that any key Trump circle people are under investigation. And if DOJ is using the ground-up approach, with Trump being the last man to fall, so to speak, even committee members wouldn't see direct evidence of Trump himself being investigated. Getting everyone around Trump first obviously leads to Trump, even if there is no direct evidence of that yet.
So him using that approach and expressing frustration serves a few purposes, imo, which is all it is, my opinion. Just as it's likely only Adam Schiff's opinion and your opinion and the many here expressing our varied opinions. None of us really know for sure.
I agree that if Schiff KNOWS DOJ is investigating Trump and he's doing it as a ruse to get the Trumper to keep criming out in the open, thinking they're safe, that would impact his reputation. But his statement doesn't do that, imo. It's not definitive that he KNOWS anything.
I like to think that Schiff does fervently believe Trump is in the crosshairs and is choosing to express the views he has to 1) pressure DOJ even more and get the public to apply more pressure in some way, though how do we pressure DOJ? And this also runs the risk of turning off people on the left who fervently believe DOJ WON'T do anything, not ever and 2) to let Trump and those around him think he's getting off without consequences and keep making stupid, incriminating statements, in writing, in interviews and at his rallies.

Isnt grand jury testimony super secret?
Just my guess.
