COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) A federal search warrant unsealed Monday says one of two Ohio National Guard members charged with terroristic threats made and sold untraceable firearms, called "ghost guns."
Thomas Develin and James Meade were charged on March 31 with making anti-Semitic, racist, and misogynistic threats on a Discord chat group whose members are largely a part of the Ohio National Guard. Among the chats, police said Develin threatened to shoot students at a Jewish school where he worked as private security and Meade threatened to fly a plane into the towers of the Anheuser-Busch plant.
Develin and Meade have both pleaded not guilty to state charges of making terroristic threats.
Agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives said in a search warrant that the Discord messages were provided by the Ohio Statewide Terrorism and Analysis Center and Ohio Army National Guard then passed on to the Columbus Ohio Division of Police Counter Terrorism Unit. Agents described the chats, which date back to October 2021, as being consistent with racially motivated violent extremist and incel violent extremist content.
ATF agents said Columbus police executed a search warrant on Develin's Brentwood Circle apartment where they found multiple firearms along with a 3D printer used to make ghost guns, which are privately made firearms without serial numbers.
