"I take methotrexate to control my Rhumatoid. I was told today I could not be prescribed it any longer as I am viably fertile and it is a medication that can be used for abortion."
And I've further read that methotrexate is also used to treat lupus and cancer.
This twitter poster goes to (or did) a doc in SC.

(621 posts)Its considered a type of oral chemo. Not a fun drug. Makes me vomit (daily) and kills your white count, but it does help with late-stage Lupus. There is no safe treatments or a cure for Lupus. Im not going to be happy if they take it away (like they did with hydroxychloroquine during the fake covid cure madness).

Cancer diagnoses raise questions as well, Harris says. "There are some cancers that the hormones of pregnancy make grow and spread faster, and people will choose to end a pregnancy because of that or because the treatment that their oncologist is recommending would be toxic or potentially lethal to a developing baby," she says.
If abortion is not an option in their state, then must they carry their pregnancy to term and delay treatment? "That might mean their cancer is more serious and more widespread than early in the pregnancy, and so they may indeed have a higher risk of dying, but it's not a risk that's going to happen immediately it might be a recurrence in months or years."

(13,498 posts)got to be kidding me. The doctor knows it is being used for RA! This is ridiculous. This has been used along with other drugs for 40 years at least in treating RA. I know because I have taken it for my RA since 1985. I am past menopause now, but this just makes me SO ANGRY🤬
