Dennett acknowledges that he sounds very rude, but it is no different from religious people with crazy ideas who claim that we all have to live by their own idea of the deity and what it says.

So... I will not respect their pronouncements of what their god says. I will not respect their faith. I will not respect anyone who says that I have to live my life per their orders. They can live their lives the way they see fit - as long as they don't bother me with it.
