This is my opinion: You cant believe anything coming from Trump loyalists. Especially those with a history of denying conversations.

(9,478 posts)They are not under oath, so they lie to their hearts content. It's not like Republican voters will hold them accountable for being liars. In fact, I believe Republican voters approve of the lying. Remember, "Don't take him literally, take him seriously."

(1,979 posts)That in these times, there are those who have no respect for, or fear of, lying under oath. They will put out their lies and tell them enough until the weak minded believe them. We have for so long made threats of what could happen if they break the law or lie under oath (putting their hand on their sacred bible and then lying their heads off), but never followed through, that they simply do not fear or respect the process any more and simply ignore the threats and continue their behavior.
It's so much like raising children. If you threaten, if you continually count to three but never ever follow through - the child quickly clocks that information and pushes just a bit more the next time. Soon you have an undisciplined terror for a toddler. Same situation here. In my house - one warning to give them a chance to think about the choice they are making, then I follow through. There is never a question of whether they are going to have a consequence because I've learned over the years that the ONLY way to raise respectful humans is to teach through loving consistency.
and face it - we are basically dealing with a bunch of people with the emotional maturity of toddlers so....

(13,964 posts)Its about swing voters. Polls already show these hearings are having an effect. 58% believe Trump should be held accountable for Jan. 6. Thats up something like 8 points from before the hearings.

(1,428 posts)At the Reagan Presidential Library tonight, Cheney warned: [W]e are confronting a domestic threat that we have never faced beforeand that is a former president who is attempting to unravel the foundations of our constitutional republic, and he is aided by Republican leaders and elected officials who have made themselves willing hostages to this dangerous and irrational man.
Donald Trump attempted to overturn the presidential election. He attempted to stay in office and to prevent the peaceful transfer of presidential power. He summoned a mob to Washington, He knew they were armed on January 6th. He knew they were angry. And he directed the violent mob to march on the Capitol in order to delay or prevent completely the counting of electoral votes. He attempted to go there with them. And when the violence was underway, he refused to take action to tell the rioters to leave. Instead, he incited further violence by tweeting that the vice president, Mike Pence, was a coward. He said Mike deserves it, and he didnt want to do anything in response to the Hang Mike Pence chants. Its undeniable. Its also painful for Republicans to accept.
She concluded: The reality that we face today as Republicans, as we think about the choice in front of us, we have to choose because Republicans cannot both be loyal to Donald Trump and loyal to the Constitution.
The audience broke out in applause.

Don't worry about such a little thing like perjury.
BTW, we have half-a-dozen others under oath that agree with Ms. Hutchinson's version.

(3,162 posts)...of course she does...
...she voluntarily comes before the Committee under great personal risk and testifies under oath on national television just to tell lies?
...only in trump-world...

(16,925 posts)but I truly have my doubts.
Unlike Watergate, when the 'details' of the 18 'missing minutes' of the tapes revealed that Nixon WAS lying, and a group of REPUBLICANS went to talk to their REPUBLICAN President and told him to "F-OFF!"- we now have RepubliQans who continue to OBEY THEIR LEADER and PROMOTE THE LIE - their fingers in their ears and singing "La-la-la-la-la-la" up and down the very halls where their lives were in jeopardy on January 6.
I pray for our country - we have THE chance to make it better this November. It may be our LAST chance.

(42,770 posts)Especially for people who take nothing, regardless of where it comes from, as sacrosanct.
First of all, she WAS a MAGat herself!! And supposedly the last person they thought would go against trump world. But then you realize that the Committee would NEVER put her on stage if they didn't believe her or have corroborating evidence. Add to that her sheer believability in the way she testified.

(5,841 posts)... to hear her repeatedly say "... said something to the effect of ..." this was the smartest way to testify to obvious hearsay. She was clear about what she witnessed and what others said. That allowed her to be completely truthful. She never once said someone said EXACTLY something, except she came close once when she was pretty adamant about the gist of something (I am forgetting what it was). She was very discerning and she made a powerful, highly credible witness. That's what they're afraid of.
Anyone who is trying to discredit her is purposely ignoring the fact of how credible she is because the highly professional, believable, and complete way she recounted events.

(7,185 posts)He tweeted: "Apparently Ms. Hutchinson testified numerous times for multiple hours about what she knew about the events leading up to January 6 and the aftermath.
In her previous testimony did she mention the dramatic events described today?"

Graham hasn't said that about anyone else. Why else would he say that just about Cassidy's testimony?
Likely because Cassidy's original lawyer who was paid by Trump and shared his client's testimony with Trump who repeated it to others or who were told directly. Yeks.
