Post-Roe polls: Midterm support for Democrats soars after Supreme Court strikes down abortion access

At least three generic congressional polls show that Democrats hold a significant lead over Republicans following the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, the watershed case that established America's constitutional right to abortion.

According to a Yahoo/News Gov poll released just this week, 45% of U.S. voters say they'd now vote for a Democratic congressional candidate, while roughly 38% meanwhile said they'd vote Republican – a 7% gap that has reportedly doubled since last week.

Those findings were affirmed in another poll, conducted this week by NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist, which similarly observed a 7% gap – 48% for Democrats and 41% for Republicans. That gap has reportedly widened by 2% since last week.

That needs answered. The yahoo has 17 percent unaccounted for. That’s a lot.

My brother-in-law is a total gun nut, but pro-choice and rather pissed off by Roe being overturned. I can see people like him falling in that camp.

The Supreme Court is handing Democrats its midterm campaign on a silver platter.

Reproductive rights
Climate change (assuming the Court guts the EPA)
Voting rights

Obviously, we still have to put in the work.

Keep pounding, reminding, slamming, repeating in every which way. But . . .

I honestly don't think women and the men that love them will forget the day that 51% of the American public were reduced to second-class citizenship.

Democrats, Indies, even Republican women are beyond pissed.

Add the opposition to sensible gun regulation and the continuing mass slaughter (even to our children), massive voting-right restrictions to the mix and, I believe ladies and gentleman, we have an effective and genuine rally cry.

Republicans are the dog that caught the car. It's up to all of us to turn that car around, and then run right over them.

Because of gerrymandering, I think Dems need like +8 to hold the House. +7 may get us there, but +3 will not.

A NATIONAL GENERIC poll tells you little about the likely outcome.

Depends on the NON-GENERIC candidates in each district and the demographic differences in each district.

Its a positive sign, but don't read to much into them at this point.

I am waiting to see ads showing these wingnuts explaining why they want no exceptions for the life of the mother or for rape and incest.

These asshats are making outrageous, ignorant and hateful public statements, but the people who need to see this are not reading DU.

We need paid advertising in prominent media and we need to do it now, before the issue becomes diluted by time.

Republicans know fear is a powerful motivator for their voters. We need to spread some fear among our people; fear of our futures, our health, our country being ruled by lunatics.
