Biden the diplomat

Biden thanks Turkish president for striking deal with Finland and Sweden
US President Joe Biden today thanked Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan for striking a deal with Finland and Sweden that would allow the two Nordic countries to soon become NATO candidates.

Speaking during a NATO summit in Madrid, Mr Biden said: "I want to particularly thank you for what you did, putting together the situation with regard to Finland and Sweden, and all the incredible work you're going to try to get the grain out of Ukraine.

"You're doing a great job."

however that may change if this country regains its sanity, which is very questionable in and of itself.

One area where he is appreciated is with other leaders. You can see the looks of relief on their faces when they pose for pictures with him. They even are relaxed enough that they can have some fun, such as in the pictures where someone made a joke about showing their pecs (making fun of Putin).

Here are some pics where you can see what I mean:

I like this pic from the NY Times:

trump was an oaf with no sense of humor. There is no way he would ever get any look of acceptance with other leaders. Russians, yes, but even his pics with dictators look phony and strained.

Putin’s plan to swallow a up Ukraine would be a reality as Trump would have nixed NATO actions.

We would have lost Ukraine and the world would stillbe under the illusion that Russia was a mighty military power. Western Europe would not be freeing Itself of Russian energy dependence.

Instead western Europe woke itself up. Now we have woken up.

We are so blessed to have his leadership in this challenging time.

His humility here is just further evidence that Joe Biden puts the interests of the world ahead of his own ego. What a refreshing change.

I salute you Mr President!

I knew someone in elem school whose great-uncle worked with Truman in D.C.
"If I had my way, that son bitch would get nothing. But, we need him and so we have to do it."
