Gov. Abbott said about it is disturbing and is avoiding the truth that he is partly to blame for this. He claims that President Biden hasnt done anything to stop this from happening. Well, neither has Gov. Abbott! What happened to the border checks that he says that they do at the border to stop illegals from from crossing the border? His stunt a couple of months ago failed, but this truck was able to get thru and now there are dozens dead. Yes, it was one truck, but according to Abbott, every truck is inspected throughly. Someone didnt do their job no matter what. One other thing Gov. Abbott, you allowed Trump to lock up children in cages in your state and didnt try to stop him. Your policy of the border is below any US government standards and it is a pathetic excuse to blame President Biden when you cant do your job in the first place!

He said there was zero chance that someone (possibly more than one) in Border Patrol was not bribed to look the other way when that truck crossed the border.
He said is was very likely that BP and the FBI will find the video of the truck going through the checkpoint and find the BP agent that didn't inspect a tractor trailer full of 100+ people.
His comments seem credible to me.

(29,199 posts)It is more a case of a bad decision for a taxi ride to someplace else within the USA.
And while they may have been illegal immigrants... that really isn't a salient fact.
Hard to see how this is the Federal Government's fault.

(36,788 posts)If the border is open, as Abbot claims, there is no need to smuggle.
If the smuggling is only within TX, then Abbot is deficient.
If Abbot let the truck through by ignoring it, it still comes down to Abbot.
