Some highlights from a Twitter thread by Jared Yates Sexton this morning:
Capitalism will not allow the climate crisis to be addressed, it will only profit off its destruction.
This Supreme Court is there to ensure that nothing can impede the consolidation of power and profit.
That's it.
That's what we're dealing with.
This EPA ruling is a massive thing.
It makes abundantly clear that, faced with an apocalyptic threat, the forces of capital and entrenched power will not hesitate to use everything at their disposal to continue the game to the very bitter end.
The terms are set.
Its good that the mask is off for the Supreme Court.
Our institutions were specifically designed as a check on democratic potential and as a safeguard for the wealthy and their property.
Now its a matter of understanding and deciding on reckoning with the facts.

(622 posts)We have to do something to curb the power of the USSC and the only thing I can think of is to get more democrats in the Senate and the House.
I don't understand it. Why don't they want to take all steps possible to curb climate change? Don't these people have grandchildren? Don't they have great educations? What good will their money do for them and their descendants if the world continues being dessicated, flooded and/or starved?

Humans don't like change and resist making major ones unless not doing so will obviously result in negative consequences. By then, it will be far too late.
