Prominent Democratic candidates Stacey Abrams and Senator Raphael Warnock appear better positioned to beat their Republican opponents come November in Georgia, according to new polling released on Wednesday.
Abrams, the former state House of Representatives minority leader, aims to unseat incumbent GOP Governor Brian Kemp in what is shaping up to be a tight race. Abrams previously unsuccessfully ran against Kemp in 2018 during his first gubernatorial bid. She ultimately lost by a margin of about 1.4 percent or just under 55,000 votes.

New polling conducted by Quinnipiac University from June 23 to 27 showed Abrams in a tied race with Kemp for the first time in a public survey of Georgia's voters. Previous polls all showed the Democratic candidate trailing the incumbent Republican by a range of 2 to 7 percent.

The latest polling shows Warnock ahead of Walker by 10 points. The incumbent Democrat has the support of 54 percent of registered voters in Georgia compared to just 44 percent who support his Trump-backed rival. That's a notable shift from January when Quinnipiac's data showed Warnock down by 1 point, at 48 percent compared to Walker's 49 percent.

(2,133 posts)Florida becomes more red. Look at who each state attracts. Atlanta is becoming a modern city. My parents moved here in 1973 and I came down in 1976. It was a real "Southern backwater state". It was reaaly prejudiced. I left in 1978 and moved to Colorado which is still my favorite state.
I live in Gwinnett county and talk about blood red. Well, in 2020 we swept the county and it is too bad Carolyn Bordeaux lost because it was her ground troops and her who flipped the county. About 10 years ag Atlanta finally started to become modern. It is attracting young people and they tend to be more "modern" in their thinking. Each election Blue makes more strides. It has modern businesses.
Florida attracts really old people and the corporations are not modern. There is no high tech. It is old school tourism and retirement.
It is a matter of time and North Carolina will be exactly the same.
We will lose Florida but we will gain Georgia and North Carolina.

(61,694 posts)it in an ad, the business of his hypocrisy regarding families needing fathers at home is out there. People must be wondering how many kids he's paying for but not raising.
Herschel's history of violence against women is also having an impact on his numbers, I've heard, and I bet the ads about his scam veterans charity is reminding voters of TFG. I think the trump shone has worn off with lots of voters. HW's acknowledged son's social media posts aren't helping much I bet.
The ads against Warnock only attack policies. He is so wholesome they can't find anything against him because there isn't anything. His senate speeches have been wonderful, whereas HW sounds like a high school dropout. Sen. Warnock has been worth my little dollars to support. I love the guy!
