the current Florida law only prevents abortion after 15 weeks, and the vast majority of abortions take place before then. Polls show Floridians are strongly pro-choice, so it may be political suicide for Desantis to go for a complete ban:

(8,225 posts)the dumbasses in the Florida legislature will give it to him. Then, he vetoes the most radical parts of the legislation. Vetoing the most radical parts makes him appear "more reasonable."
It makes him look like he's less insane than the Republicans in the legislature. Then, they'll sit there looking all sad with droopy faces after he vetoes the worst parts.

(3,030 posts)If he does so, in the face of the poll numbers I linked, with an election coming, then he's a pretty dumb politician. Florida isn't Texas or Mississippi.
