It even eclipsed breast cancer in MY mind.

(4,104 posts)Thats ductile carcinoma in situ. I was diagnosed in January, very early, stage 0. They tried two lumpectomies, but the reach of the bad cells was 12 centimeters. l had a mastectomy in March. No invasive cancer, they got it all. Im starting breast reconstruction on July 7th.
Glad they caught it early in your case, as well. Best wishes for your good health!

(2,601 posts)Found through self exam. (Very important, do it!). Didnt show on mammogram due to location. On the ultrasound it looked like a moose head with antlers. My husband and I call it Bullwinkle. There is graphically bad stuff about its location, which I wont go into.

(16,843 posts)They caught my mom's early, about 4 years ago, and so far, no more cancer. I was so relieved when her last tests came back negative. You can beat it, just be determined.

(866 posts)My friends and family (and I) all said my successful surgery was such a wonderful distraction. My husband had died the day after Hillary won the New York primary. The night of the election I was alone and fasting when that ass won. The next morning at the hospital, a nurse came into my room and said, I told them I needed to sit with you because youre alone, but I just need to cry. I said, oh Ill be ok. She said, Oh youre going to be ok. But that fuck is president? Last story, my first chemo was scheduled for Inauguration Day 2021. The nurse showed me I could pick from four large rooms with IV chairs. I was polite and obsequious (as chemo newbies are). But the last room had a big TV showing the inauguration and I yelled, Oh, hell, No. a lot of people laughed and 2 ladies took their IV poles and followed me into the quiet room where we got our poison and vented our anger. But, President Biden was elected and that whole ugly cancer thing was over, defeated! (And my breast cancer is over, too).

(50,935 posts)after the surgery and, honest to God, I don't know what I would have done without the great DU women telling me what to expect and how to help her.
It's a really valuable resource, so you are not alone and there is a ton of information at your fingertips right here.
Best to you. Keep us posted.

(3,557 posts)My ex-wife, my mother, and my grandmother all had issues with breast cancer. They were all successful with overcoming it.
Its scary in the beginning when you dont have much information to go on, but the more you and your family learn about it, the more manageable it becomes - and it can be very manageable.
The thing with breast cancer and the treatment of it is that so much progress has been made in the last 5-10 years. It can be very treatable.
As one human to another, I hope you and your family find peace during this ordeal.
