According to Cassidy Hutchinson's testimony before the J6 Committee, Trump knew his minions had deadly weapons but nonetheless he wanted the metal detectors at the Capitol to be disabled. And that he wanted to join them at the Capitol Building after his speech.
When he was warned about the potential danger of letting hoards of "supporters" roam around with such weapons, Trump stated that it was all right, that they wouldn't hurt him.
OK, fine.
But what about Trump's insistence that the "true" group at the Capitol was the fictional "Antifa"? Wouldn't that contradict his certainty that he would be safe from danger? Or contradict that "Antifa" was in fact on the Capitol grounds?
It can't be both.
Did Antifa infiltrate Capitol rioters?

The weapons among his mob made them sitting ducks, and tfg knew it.

(50,528 posts)Where he wanted them disabled was at the place his speech was going to be given. He didn't give a fuck about the ones at the Capitol because his mob was going to shove through them anyway.

(32,568 posts)I think this needs to be clarified by journalists, or even better, by the J-6 committee.
It seems clear to me that Chump was telling the security people to stop scanning for weapons and such - as people were entering the rally at the Ellipse. Because Chump knew they were leaving the Ellipse to head down to the Capitol afterwards. As far as I know, Chump had no control over the security handling at the Capitol. This was about excluding people from the rally who weren't allowed in because of weapons.

(11,884 posts)He exposes his lies attacking her, and what she said truthfully about him. He'll never admit the truth , and uses excuses instead. She humiliated him , and he'll continue attacking her with lie after lie. He's used tactics like this for years attacking and demonizing others with his lies. TFG is a deranged serial liar and conman who is a dangerously violent madman very capable of anything.

(35,293 posts)and allegedly he tried to steer the SUV there. I think he planed on showing up at the Capitol leading them. Would the cops have stopped the POTUS from entering? He thought he could walk in like a dictator and disrupt the counting of votes himself. If he succeeded he would go down in history as the savior of Merika.

(1,654 posts)To have some in their own groups dress at "Antifa" to confuse the situation but no one wanted to be the ones dressed like Antifa. I think they would have been terrified to be involved in some friendly fire. There would probably have been more deaths among the casualties if they had carried through with those plans. Those "patriots" are vicious if you disagree with them.

(1,510 posts). . . presence on Jan 6, you can bet that on Jan 7, every Republican in Congress would have demanded and voted for an investigation.
Instead, Republicans blocked an investigation at every turn, which tells us they damn well knew the Jan 6 attempted coup was a Republican plot form the beginning.
On another matter: How about we STOP calling the Jan 6 affair an insurrection or riot or whatever. Jan 6 was an armed coup attempt, plotted and set up months in advance. Call it an attempted coup.
Furthermore, in every other contry where there has been a failed coup, the leaders have suffered one of three fates: (1) execution (sometimes on the spot); (2) arrest and imprisonment for a long time; or, (3) exile. Why are Trump Stone, Bannon, Meadows, Eastman, Clark, and every Republican in Congress still walking around alive and free?

(1,811 posts)An attack on the Capitol and POTUS not removed from the WH?
That to me means that they KNEW exactly whom they were dealing with.
They knew.
And they did not care about Pence or any other Congressperson.
My Rep Elise Stefanik, was pregnant at the time.
She still supports Trump. And benefitted greatly from the insurrection.
I can't imagine be pregnant, going through that and still actively supporting Trump.
Were Republicans told they would be safe?
And by whom?
Mike Pence certainly did not feel safe.
