If Trump had gone to the Capitol, what did he intend to do there?

I am curious as to what TFG intended to do if he was taken to the Capitol on Jan. 6. This stunt makes little sense to me

https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/maddowblog/trump-gone-capitol-intend-rcna35942

The New York Times published a quote that stood out:

“Until this point, we had not seen proof that he knew about the violence,” said Daniel Goldman, a former federal prosecutor who served as the lead counsel during Mr. Trump’s first impeachment and is currently running for Congress in New York. “The testimony made very clear he was not only entirely aware of the threat, but wanted armed people to march to the Capitol. He was even willing to lead them.”

That’s a handy and accurate summary: There’s compelling evidence that Trump summoned enraged followers, assembled an armed mob just south of the White House, filled them with lies, and had every intention of joining them as they descended on the nation’s seat of government.

To be sure, this seems like the sort of thing that might be of interest to federal law enforcement. But as we digest the revelations, I have a related question: What exactly was Trump prepared to do once he arrived at the Capitol?......

Viewers saw Hutchinson during a previously recorded deposition, when she was asked whether other White House officials indicated what the then-president hoped to accomplish after arriving on the Hill. She responded:

“I remember hearing a few different ideas discussed with — between [then-White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows] and [Republican Rep.] Scott Perry, Mark and Rudy Giuliani. I don’t know which conversations were elevated to the president. I don’t know what he personally wanted to do when he went up to the Capitol that day. You know, I — I know that there were discussions about him having another speech outside of the Capitol before going in. I know that there was a conversation about him going into the House chamber at one point.”

That’s a rather striking detail. There were “conversations” — presumably in advance of Jan. 6 — involving the then-White House chief of staff, the then-president’s campaign lawyer, and a Republican member of Congress allied with the White House. They kicked around ideas about Trump, after arriving at the Capitol with his followers, giving another speech, possibly even inside the House chamber, to which he had not been invited.

But maybe he thought he could order the Capitol Police to stand down, and then he and his supporters would do their best "blackshirt" impression and install Trump like the blackshirts installed Mussolini when they marched on Rome.

… he never intended to go, and came up with this story as a cover so the cult wouldn’t think less of him for not showing up. When the shit went Tango Uniform, he likely abandoned it because he thought it would look bad politically for him to have wanted to be there so badly. That would explain why the agents initially told the story to Hutchinson, but then went silent on it later.

JMHO.

Whether or not there was a plan, I await TFG throwing his cronies under the bus or cronies throwing TFG under the bus.

In my opinion, either one or both would disrupt the Party of Nothing© rather than the Union, as some think that an indictment would.

TFG thought that he could stage a "made of tv" moment with this stunt

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/07/01/trump-capitol-riot-march/

Toward the end of 2020, then-President Donald Trump began raising a new idea with aides: that he would personally lead a march to the Capitol on the following Jan. 6.

Trump brought it up repeatedly with key advisers in the Oval Office, according to a person who talked with him about it. The president told others he wanted a dramatic, made-for-TV moment that could pressure Republican lawmakers to support his demand to throw out the electoral college results showing that Joe Biden had defeated him, the person said.

The excursion that almost happened came into clearer focus this week, as the House committee investigating the attack on the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021 presented explosive testimony and records detailing Trump’s fervent demands to lead his supporters mobbing the seat of government. Though Trump’s trip was ultimately thwarted by his own security officers, the new evidence cuts closer to the critical question of what he knew about the violence in store for that day.

Trump has acknowledged his foiled effort to reach the Capitol. “Secret Service wouldn’t let me,” he told The Washington Post in April. “I wanted to go. I wanted to go so badly. Secret Service says you can’t go. I would have gone there in a minute.”,,,,,

This account of Trump’s ceaseless plotting to join the mob at the Capitol on Jan. 6 is based on committee testimony and evidence as well as 15 former officials, aides, law enforcement officials and others, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to reveal internal details.

Aides did not know where Trump got the idea, this person said, but it wasn’t from inside the White House. The chief of staff, Mark Meadows, discussed plans to bring Trump to the Capitol with Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pa.) and lawyer Rudy Giuliani, who was leading the campaign’s efforts to overturn the election results, according to testimony from Cassidy Hutchinson, a close aide to Meadows.
