(23,763 posts)I even have black sneakers!
Of course I have no plans for anything outside the house but I still like the idea
Also wearing black.
I have hated this holiday since my state and city allowed high powered fireworks for civilian use. The entire city sounds like a fucking war zone and people's pets are completely traumatized. And it's always the biggest yahoos making the biggest deal of it. I hate ostentatious patriotism. If you gave these people a civics test they'd fail it.
But this year I hate it even more because I am reduced to my uterus, which is owned by the state I live in. I do not have freedom. No woman does. We are vessels of the right wing without the ability to make our own decisions about our own lives and bodies.

(7,080 posts)I have hung one flag out front UPSIDE DOWN this afternoon. If an idiot uninformed neighbor should point out that my flag is upside down I will tell them to just google it. May have to add 'and go fuck yourself' if they have a real attitude about it.

(6,115 posts)I am just in a "don't fuck with me" mood lately.
There are times when I just can't "rise above." Taking away my bodily autonomy tends to have that effect.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
