Manipulating the media.

I've long thought that his entire presidency was looked at by him as a TV show in which he was the star, the writer and producer. He thinks of almost EVERYTHING in terms of "ratings". This was made clear when he balked at letting that cruise ship dock early in the pandemic. He didn't want the "numbers" (of infected people) to go up because he thought it would make him look bad.

Ditto with testing. He said repeatedly he wanted testing to stop because it made his ratings look bad.

He is a world class media manipulator. And he's been doing it for decades.
