The Supreme Court is on the road to destroying America

A majority of Supreme Court radicals wasted no time in assaulting the right to abortion; trying to make sure that more guns would be available to more people, anywhere, anytime; and breached the wall between church and state. In just a few months, they've given America's far right wing nuts the wet dream they've wanted for decades. And this Supreme Court is just getting started.

We Democrats supposedly control the rest of the federal government, the House, the Senate and the Presidency. Yet, we can't stop the crazies. We have a narrow majority in the House and, even though we have half the Senate, (where VP Harris can break any tie votes), we didn't count on Dem Senators Manchin and Sinema fucking our country to the degree they have.

Come this November, we have the opportunity to turn things around. If we can hold the House, and if we can gain a super majority in the Senate, we'll have restored a balance of power. We will be able to pass laws that can override the Supreme Court's decisions. We will be able to pass laws against gerrymandering. We will be able to pass laws against the attack on voting rights that have been taking place in virtually all red states. We may be able to appoint additional Supreme Court Justices. We will be able to level the playing field.

But here's the thing. Given the voting laws that now exist in many red states, keeping the Republicans from winning/stealing the House and Senate is really up for grabs. All of us Dems have faith that Getting Out The hugest Vote ever will make the difference. But if they gain control of even the House, the 2024 presidential election will become a moot point. (Whether it's Trump, or a more intelligent versions of him, they WILL win/steal the Oval Office.)

So what do we Democrats do? In WWII, fascism came within a hair of owning the world. They were stopped by us and the rest of the democracies in the world. If these pricks take over America, there's no one to come to our rescue. There's no alliance of democracies to stand against "The most powerful country in the world." Nuclear weapons have changed our planet's realities.

Here's my bottom line. If the fascist faction of Americans are to be stopped, there's no one to stop them but we Democrats and all others who believe as we do. And if we can't stop them, we will become Russia 2.0.

And what do I mean by "stop them?" Well come November, if we lose it all, you'll have to make up your own mind as to what is necessary to save our freedoms, our Constitution, our Country, and our way of life. If our country is stolen from us, we, the vast majority, truly don't have many options of what we choose to do about it. And this is something we all must start thinking about right now.

1. The Democrats should try to save the role of the Chief Justice.

They could do that by simply adding one more Justice. It would give the Chief Justice the power to cast tie-breaking votes, thus sending the cases back to the lower courts.

Doesn't sound like much, but could mean a lot politically.

2. The Chief doesn't have a tie-breaking power

If there are 10 justices and the vote is 5-5 then the ruling from the lower court stands.

4. Sorry. I should have said that one more Justice could permit the Chief Justice a 5/5 vote.

Which would send it back to the lower court from where it came.

At this point, all power has been removed from the Chief Justice. It's sort of like removing the veto power from the President.

It doesn't sound like much but it could be a big deal if another vacancy were to come up on the Court. The Chief Justice would regain control of the Court.

3. The filibuster stops us from even doing that.

It's past time for our President, Joe Biden, to use the "Bully Pulpit" of the presidency to it's fullest. He must get out there, and demand that the filibuster be destroyed, and use every single bit of power that resides in the presidency. And he must be backed up by the entire Democratic House and Senate.

I don't know if it will be enough. But at this moment we Dems hold (most) of the power. Use it or lose it.

(On edit) A super majority of Dems in the Senate could pass laws that would nullify Supreme Court insanity.

5. SCOTUS is now control by Partisan Hacks

6. Call them what you will

They are, mostly, partisans and religious fanatics who intend to force their beliefs on everyone in America. And it seems that all we are doing is marching with signs to protest them. They don't give a rat's ass about our marches, our signs, our values, or anything else. They have the power and their using it.

Seems to me that marching with signs just ain't cutting it.

7. Expanding the Court to 13 justices

instead of 9 justices, also term limits might be a good idea. Just saying

8. We can't do anything without the power to do it

And right now, we ain't got the power.

On the other hand, Republicans have to face voters who aren't happy with the abortion decision. Nonetheless, they're pretty good at suppressing votes, and making counts come out the way they need them to.

Will we Dems ever react to them throwing away the "rule book?" They've been at it for decades, we've tolerated it, and look where we are now.

10. I wonder

Will ordinary Americans sit idly by while the SC turns the nation into the extremist theocracy they Dream of? Personally I doubt it.

I can believe in an America without a SC as currently devised. Especially after it has started to overturn decisions from previous SCs.
