Hours After Mass Shooting, GOP Candidate Says Time to 'Move On' and 'Celebrate' (video in link)

Hours after a gunman opened fire during an Independence Day parade in a Chicago suburb, Illinois state Senator Darren Bailey, a Republican, called for people to “move on and… celebrate.”

The shooting broke out around 10:15 a.m., minutes into the start of the parade in Highland Park, Illinois. At least six people were killed and dozens more injured. The gunman, who police said was using a “high-powered rifle,” is still at large.

At around noon local time, Bailey, who is running for governor and has been endorsed by former President Donald Trump, went live on Facebook from Skokie, a village about 20 minutes south of Highland Park where he’d planned to attend a parade.

When reached by VICE News, Bailey’s spokesman sent out a statement saying “I apologize if in any way we diminished the pain being felt across our state today.”

He had given out his thoughts and prayers and it didn't happen in his neighborhood, so, it that worldview time to move on and celebrate the holiday. Just the kind of candidate I'd expect from the GOP.

to witness first hand what this "celebration" is all about. Let him see the destroyed bodies. And then let's see how glib he can be.

My sister's little dog was hit/run over when it escaped from our father's home for Thanksgiving.

My sister and her husband cradled the dead puppy, crying/weeping.

Our father tried his version of comfort:

1. You have three other dogs.
2. It's Thanksgiving. Let's eat!

True story. Pathetic, but true.

I live downstate, see "pritzker sucks" signs all over lawns. All I can say is if Darren Bailey wins governor of Illinois then it will be the least of our worries because it would have been a disastrous day for democrats across the nation.
