Hi all, this song is one of my favorites, I just joined this forum now, after searching about this horrible shooting in Illinois. The subject matter of this song is so seriously important, and even after 57 years it hasn't aged. Barry as well as The Wrecking Crew did a magnificent job on this recording. I listen to the single regularly.

(55,334 posts)9. Barry McGuire was an Okie, migrated to CA with his family in the Depression
He became a born again Christian in 1971 and started writing more gospel themed music. In the last few years he's updated Eve of Destruction to include more environmental themes and other contemporary concerns.
He's living in Oklahoma City again, where he was born.
